ADULT MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION:

The HFD is always accepting applications for new fire fighters.  Minimum requirements include the applicant be at least 18 years old, be in good health have a driver's license and be free of a criminal record.  Basic training and all related equipment and gear is provided free of charge to the applicant.  Currently, the basic training includes 152 hours of instruction at the Middlesex County Fire Academy in Sayreville.  Members who meet a minimum prescribed criterion are eligible for an annual stipend called LOSAP, which is held in an account of their choosing until they retire from the fire service.

 

JUNIOR MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

The HFD has a Junior Fire Fighter Program. Members must be between the ages of 16-18.  They will be given training and certain gear for use while serving the Department.  Junior members will be under the direct control of a senior fire fighter, and will be permitted to complete many tasks normally completed by senior members.  Parental consent is required, and junior members are required to maintain a "C" average or better while attending school.  Junior members are prohibited from leaving the Borough for fire calls, and cannot participate after 10:00 PM.
