Helmetta Fire Department 62 Main Street
The Helmetta Fire Department was established in 1895, and has been comprised of all volunteer members since then. The members respond to all types of calls for service twenty-four hours per day, three-hundred sixty-five days per year.
Mission Statement:
The mission of the Helmetta Fire Department is to preserve life and protect property of the residents of the Borough of Helmetta, and to assist the Fire Marshal in prevention of fires.
New members are always welcome. Anyone interested may stop by the firehouse, located at 62 Main Street any Monday evening. Members are there every Monday beginning at 7:00 PM. For additional information, please call our non-emergency number: 732-521-1534. Should anyone have any other questions regarding the HFD, feel free to call and leave a message.
Fund Raising:
The HFD supports itself by supplementing the firematic budget they receive each year from the Borough. This is accomplished through the HFD weekly bingo games held at Holy Trinity Church Hall every Tuesday at 7:45 PM. Doors open at 6:00 PM. Additionally, the Department sends out fund drive letters on an annual basis. The Department relies on fund raising activities to meet its many financial commitments.
Training:
The Helmetta Fire Department conducts training on a monthly basis, as well as completing state and federally mandated training requirements. This training includes live fire applications, engineering, use of SCBA, Hazardous materials etc. The Helmetta Fire Department is fortunate to boast a total of 3 Level 2 Fire Service Instructors, as certified by the NJ Division of Fire Safety.
Fire Prevention:
The Helmetta Fire Department works very closely with the Fire Marshal, Thomas Droppa, and we have constant interaction. Additional information about the Fire Marshal, inspections, fees and programs are available at his portion of this website.
